Who We Are
Our Beginning
- For the past 30 years, Native Hawaiian Organization Charity (NHOC) has been partnered with the Native Hawaiian Board of Health, five Native health care systems, and numerous Native Hawaiian Organizations to deliver traditional healing services to communities in need.
- NHOC developed the only existing constitutional law treatise on the history of traditional Native Hawaiian medicinal practices and drafted the currently enacted Hawaii State Healers Law.
- Further, NHOC implemented a model template that has successfully incubated and then established new businesses in Hawaii that currently commercially extend to regions on the U.S. Continent.
Our Evolution
- Lawelawe is a Hawaiian word meaning “to care for others.” The Lawelawe brand of companies was created to support the parent company’s nonprofit initiatives dedicated to uplifting the Hawaiian culture.
- Lawelawe Management Group (LMG) was founded in March 2020 to offer managed operational and administrative services in support of the Lawelawe portfolio of companies.
- Back-office functions consolidated into one central servicing organization increases efficiency and reduces the cost of operations. This streamlined structure has enabled the Lawelawe family of companies to grow through the creation of multiple new Native Hawaiian Owned (NHO) companies.
Today
- Due to our Native status, industry expertise, and our ability to leverage various Federal programs, our motto is “Lawelawe Becomes What You Need Us to Become.”
- Lawelawe consists of 8 Native Hawaiian Owned (NHO) for profit subsidiaries. Our portfolio includes SBA certified 8(a), NHO small businesses, with a DCAA approved accounting system and facility clearances.
